Friendship Quilters

THE FRIENDSHIP QUILTERS’ CIRCLE

When the church was established in 1932, a women’s group was among
the first circles to be founded. The Friendship Quilters’ Circle, generations later and displaying some alterations, is that group. The Circle’s mission is to promote fellowship and strengthen support for women as they walk through their Christian life.

The main fundraiser is hand quilting tops that other people have made. Each quilt is a beautiful item that is quilted with care and prayer. Money raised is given away each December to various charities such as Haven of Rest, The Salvation Army, Hattie Larlham Foundation, and others. Some money is held
back to support causes in the church, during the year.

The Circle meets every Wednesday, from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The women bring their own lunch, and coffee, tea and pickles are provided. Why pickles? When the group first started, toasted cheese sandwiches and pickles were the traditional menu served every week. Over the years, the sandwiches were omitted, but the pickles remained. Devotions and a monthly business meeting, with dues of $1.00, are held on the second Wednesday. Half of the members come from other churches, and anyone who wants
to quilt or visit is welcomed.
